Deep Link Engine Plugin
Well here we are a month later after installing Deep Link Engine. In that period we have extensively reviewed the plugin. The makers of Deep Link Engine have updated their plugin 3 times in that time frame bringing different changes to the plugin.
After reading a comment from one of my readers saying that he had a hard time removing the plugin, I decided to attempt it myself. So I deactivated the plugin from the WordPress admin panel and dropped my tables for Deep Link Engine. I then noticed that all the related links where still on every post and that I had to manually remove everyone from each post. It also leaves the pinging list on every post which I’m still trying to remove.
Since I had removed Deep Link Engine on this website, I went to look at my other website Jetset Web & SEO where the plugin was installed and checked on every supposedly related link the was on my posts. Funny thing though when I looked at the related links for my article Deep Link Engine Review Part 2, the first related link was a link to an article called “Deep Link Engine Review Part 2″! Imagine that, my article on someone else website and no acknowledgment of me being the author!
With that being said I went on to remove all the unrelated links on every post. But when I updated the plugin all the same unrelated and related links came back.
In the last update the authors of the plugin released the update by saying that they had improved how the plugin could now be applied to all the already published posts with a mass populate function. Unfortunately with the updated version when you want to add related links to published posts you don’t have the option of choosing the tags needed to find related blogs.
When I heard about the Deep Link Engine plugin I got it through an email in which I had to subscribe to a mailing list in order to receive my download link. Naturally I went to WordPress Plugin Directory and couldn’t find it there so I subscribed to receive the link. Later I went back to the WordPress Plugin Directory and saw that now it was available. One thing about this that does bug me is that by going through WordPress Plugin Directory you don’t need to subscribe to download the plugin, but once you install it a couple of days later you will notice that you there is an update available for Deep Link Engine. When you proceed to upgrade you are asked to put your name and email to continue! I have never experienced that from a plugin from WordPress before.
Deep Link Engine has some potential if you are knowledgeable with coding, but since these reviews of different plugins and techniques are geared for newbies or those who are looking for automation then I don’t recommend Deep Link Engine. If all related links were really related links then maybe it could pass. But it was my experience that only about 50% of the links are really related to your post and the other 50% are way off base. In my opinion the Deep Link Engine has a hidden agenda.
Next review will be about software I came across a while ago but didn’t pay too much attention to it. The software is called Alexa Rank Enhancer and is believe to increase your Alexa ranking.
